IMDEA Materials Institute is looking for:
(MSc Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering)
to carry out their PhD within the framework of the research project VIRMETAL (virtual design, virtual processing and virtual testing of metallic materials) funded by an Advanced Grant of the European Research Council under the supervision of the project leader. Research activities will be focused in the development of multiscale modeling strategies –based on the phase-field method– to simulate the microstructural development during solidification as well as during thermo-mechanical treatments in Al and Mg alloys.
Requirements: Candidates should hold MSc degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) with excellent academic credentials and a strong commitment to develop an academic career in an international and multidisciplinary environment. Previous experience in numerical simulation (molecular dynamics, computational thermodynamics, crystal plasticity, phase field modeling, finite elements) will be valued. Fluent English (oral and written) is required.
Conditions: Full time contract including social security coverage.
