IMDEA Materials is looking for a RESEARCH ASSISTANT to carry out his/her doctoral research on the field of biodegradable materials for biomedical applications. The research focuses in understanding the relationship between microstructure, topology and mechanical properties of biodegradable scaffolds of Mg alloy manufactured by 3D printing. The research will be carried out using state-of-the-art microstructural characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, lab. and synchrotron XCT, XRD and mechanical testing as well as FE modelling. This project will lead to a PhD that will be defended at Carlos III University of Madrid.
The candidate will carry out his/her research work at IMDEA Materials Institute. He/she will receive training in transversal skills and will have the opportunity to disseminate his/her work at specialized conferences. This offer is subjected to a FPI scholarship.
Master in Materials Science and Engineering, Master in Biomedical Engineering or similar with background in biomaterials and metallurgy. Experience in materials processing, microstructure characterization, mechanical testing, programing in Matlab or Python, CAD software for mechanical design will be values.
The candidate must have a strong interest in biomaterials.
Fluent English (oral and written) is required.
Conditions: 4 year contract with full social security coverage.
Starting date: Subjected to resolution of FPI scholarship. Depending on the candidate he/she could start on January 2021.
Application submission deadline: 20/10/2020. Requierments for application: electronic signature, CV in English, ID card and academic certificate with grades.
Besides on-the-job technical training, IMDEA Materials Institute is committed to train the Institute’s scientists and staff in “soft” or transversal skills. See the available training here.
