IMDEA Materials Institute is looking for a Research Assistant with MSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering, or Metallurgy to carry out his/her PhD within the framework of the research project MAFMA (Multiscale modelling of fatigue in Mg alloys) funded by the Comunidad de Madrid under the supervision of the project leader. Research activities will be focused in the experimental and numerical study of slip band formation and crack nucleation in Mg alloys under cyclic loading by means of in-situ mechanical testing within a scanning electron microscope and mutiscale modelling approaches based on dislocation dynamics, crystal plasticity and phase-field modeling.
hold a MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy (or
related discipline) with excellent academic credentials and a strong commitment
to develop an academic career in an international and multidisciplinary
environment. Previous experience in in-situ
experiments and numerical simulation will be valued. Fluent English (oral and
written) is required.
