IMDEA Materials (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies of Materials) is a non-profit, independent research institute, promoted by the Regional Government de Madrid (Spain), to carry out research in Materials Science and Engineering. IMDEA Materials Institute is committed to excellence in research by attracting talent from all over the world and to foster technology transfer to the industrial sector in a truly international environment. More information about the activities of the Institute can be found at: http://www.materials.imdea.org
IMDEA Materials Institute is looking for a Research Associate with PhD in Solid Mechanics, or Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computational Materials Science to work in the research project MAFMA (multiscale modelling of fatigue in Mg alloys) funded by the Comunidad de Madrid. Research activities will be the development of multiscale modeling strategies for deformation and failure in Mg alloys under cyclic loading. In particular, dislocation dynamics, crystal plasticity and phase field modeling will be used to study the role of slip bands and twin bands on plasticity and microcrack nucleation during cyclic deformation.
hold PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Solid
Mechanics, Computer Science (or related discipline) with excellent academic
credentials and a strong commitment to develop an academic career in an
international and multidisciplinary environment. Programming skills with
Fortran or C, and Fluent English (oral and written) are required. Previous
experience in either finite element method, crystal plasticity, phase field
modeling or dislocation dynamics simulations is necessary.
