IMDEA Materials (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies of Materials) is a non-profit, independent research institute, promoted by the Regional Government de Madrid (Spain), to carry out research in Materials Science and Engineering. IMDEA Materials Institute is committed to excellence in research by attracting talent from all over the world and to foster technology transfer to the industrial sector in a truly international environment. More information about the activities of the Institute can be found at: http://www.materials.imdea.org
The research activities will be focused on the study of optoelectronic and photoelectrochemical properties of hybrid materials based on nanocarbons and semiconducting metal oxides. Characterization by advanced electron microscopy, spectroscopy and WAXS-SAXS will also be conducted.
The candidate will additionally contribute to the synthesis of the nanocarbon/metal oxide heterojunctions, building on the group’s expertise in synthesis of macroscopic fibres of CNTs and their hybridization by sol-gel, electrodeposition and ALD.
For more information about the Multifunctional Nanocomposites Group see http://www.materials.imdea.org/groups/mng/
Candidates should hold a PhD in Materials Science, Physic, Chemistry (or related discipline), have previous experience in photoelectrochemistry of nanoporous electrodes and other semiconductor devices.
Knowledge of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is essential.
Excellent academic credentials and a strong commitment to develop an academic career in an international and multidisciplinary environment are expected.
Fluent oral and written English is required. No knowledge of Spanish is required (free lessons provided)
Interested candidates should submit their Curriculum Vitae (including complete contact information for two references) and a one-page statement of their research objectives.
Full time contract including social security coverage.
