IMDEA Materials seeks a full-time PhD with a priority to candidates with experience and interest in bio-optoelectronics. We are looking for an individual with initiative and motivation to start her/his career in a new and dynamic research group.

The research activities will be focused on the study of the development of bio-hybrid materials based on the combination of polymers and fluorescent proteins. The latter will be applied in lighting systems with the main focus on developing new technologies that followed the “Green Photonics” concept. The PhD candidate will acquire a mature knowledge on handling of bio-compounds, spectroscopic, rheology, and microscopic techniques, as well as the fabrication and characterization of optoelectronic devices.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should hold a Bachelor/Master in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Bio-technology (or related discipline). Experience in molecular electronics, bio-diagnosis, and photophysics will be positively judged.

Excellent academic records and a strong commitment to develop an academic career in an international and multidisciplinary environment are expected.

Fluent oral and written English is required as this is the official language of the group. No knowledge of Spanish is totally fine (free lessons provided).

CONDITIONS

Full time contract including social security coverage.
