IMDEA Materials (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies of Materials) is a non-profit, independent research institute, promoted by the Regional Government de Madrid (Spain), to carry out research in Materials Science and Engineering. IMDEA Materials Institute is committed to excellence in research by attracting talent from all over the world and to foster technology transfer to the industrial sector in a truly international environment. More information about the activities of the Institute can be found at: http://www.materials.imdea.org
The Computational Solid Mechanics Group at IMDEA Materials Institute is seeking to fill a position of Research Assistant in Materials Modelling at extreme conditions. The researcher will work in the development of material models for novel alloys at high temperature and large strain rates. Working jointly with the Physical Simulation Group, the researcher will have access to experimental data to validate the computational models. In the process (s)he will learn nonlinear computational mechanics, advanced materials modelling, and uncertainty quantification, and will enrol in a PhD program for the duration of the contract. The research will be carried out within the framework of a European Clean Sky project, in close collaboration with leading aerospace companies.
Candidates should have strong analytical skills, and hold a MSc in Engineering, Material Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record. Additionally, successful candidates are expected to be fluent in English and have programming experience in C or C++.
Interested candidates should submit the Curriculum Vitae, academic records for the BS and the MSc degrees as well as a letter of motivation.
