Project Manager Assistant

IMDEA Materials Institute is a public research organization founded in 2007 by Madrid’s regional government to carry out research of excellence in Material Science and Engineering by attracting talent from all over the world to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment. IMDEA Materials has grown rapidly since its foundation and currently includes more than 120 researchers from 22 nationalities and has become one of the leading research centers in materials in Europe which has received the María de Maeztu seal of excellence from the Spanish government. The research activities have been focused on the areas of materials for transport, energy, and health care and the Institute has state-of-the-art facilities for processing, characterization and simulation of advanced materials.

As part of the European Project Office supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, IMDEA Materials Institute seeks a Project Manager Assistant to join the Projects and Technology Department. The selected candidate will give support to the Project Management Office (PMO). The candidate should be a proactive, dynamic, self-motivated, and collaborative person with good communication skills.

The position main responsibilities will be:

  • Provide support to researchers in all aspects of R&D proposal preparation process (detect and communicate funding opportunities, presence at events, development of project ideas, building project consortiums and proposal writing and review)
    Management and administrative reporting of ongoing projects in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
    Provide support for implementing plans for communication, dissemination and exploitation.

  • MSc or Ph.D. degree related to materials science or engineering.
  • Experience in competitive EU, National and regional R&D projects for health applications.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar position.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Fluent English (both spoken and written).
  • Proactive, dynamic, and self-motivated.
  • Project writing and/or management will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in using IDINET Project Management Software will be highly regarded.


Employment contract with full Social Security coverage.
