Description

The candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the Electronics Laboratory to ensure regulatory and quality compliance, as well as providing support to the different research groups and projects, and technical expertise and training to users.


Requirements

Education:

  • Master's degree in electrical/electronic engineering (or similar).
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).
  • Training in laboratory management and/or quality control systems (desirable).

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of similar laboratory experience in a multinational and multicultural setting:
  • Use of in-situ devices.
  • Design and control of high-power AC systems.
  • Building of small equipment. Knowledge required: CAD design, PCB design (software and hardware), mounting the designed equipment.
  • Design and building of electronic equipment (sensors, gauges, power sources).
  • Maintenance of control systems: This task involves checking stepper motors and drivers, gearboxes, calibrating load cells and other sensors, and checking temperature controllers and furnaces (resistive, induction, air blow).
  • Programming of control systems (Python, Arduino, Labview, Matlab): Being able to generate new software for devices' control or update the already developed ones.
  • Basic mechatronics, programming (Labview, C, C++ or Python, Arduino), microcontrollers, and design software (FreeCad, AutoCAD, etc).
  • Experience in working with electronic signals, oscilloscopes, etc.

Basic knowledge of mechanics and materials selection will be positively evaluated.

Knowledge of electronic signal filtering, amplification of signals, control by PID, PWD, and safety measures (for the circuit and for the operator) are highly desirable.

Previous experience in research institutions (desirable)

Necessary competencies:

  • Effectively support researchers by providing technical support, demonstrating procedures, and collecting, preparing and testing samples.
  • Preparation of technical reports.
  • Ensure that the laboratories are well-stocked and resourced and that waste is disposed of according to the established procedure.
  • Understand the requirements, issues and outcomes needed in their technical area.
  • Understand the purpose, operate and maintain the equipment and installations in their laboratories.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that health and safety practices are followed in their laboratories. Collaborate with management to provide a safe and healthy workplace and carry out health and safety evaluations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, proactivity and teamwork orientation.
  • Initiative, flexibility and ability to solve everyday problems related to the position’s duties.

Desirable competencies:

  • Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.

Conditions

Contrato indefinido dentro del proceso de estabilización recogido en la Disposición Adicional 30 de la Ley de Presupuestos Generales del Estado del año 2018.

Permanent contract within the stabilization process included in Additional Provision 30 of the 2018 State’s General Budget Law.
