Description

A postdoc position is available at IMDEA´s Multifunctional Nanocomposites Group (MNG). The successful candidate will be involved in the study of high-performance, high-energy 3b/4a Li-ion batteries, with a focus on developing methods for increasing capacity retention in cells with high capacity nanotextile Si anodes.

The successful candidate will fabricate the electrodes, assemble lab-size cells, and evaluate them electrochemically. The main objective is to employ advanced techniques (e.g., in-operando Raman and X-ray scattering) to study the reactions governing the storing/fading mechanisms. The position offered is part of a research project including collaboration with the Solid-State Electrochemistry research group at ICMB.

The candidate is expected to contribute to disseminating the results in project meetings, publications in high-impact factor journals, presentation at international conferences, and engagement with industrial partners.

Requirements

PhD in a discipline related to electrochemistry, chemistry and materials science or a related field.

Strong interest and will in experimental work is essential. Strong background and extended experience in theory and practice in electrochemistry, metal ion batteries, electrode and full cell fabrications at the lab level with a proven record of accomplishment are mandatory. Knowledge of surface chemistry, polymers and materials, in general, will be positively evaluated (as complementary).

Command of written and spoken English is a prerequisite.

Conditions

Screening of candidates will begin immediately. Short-listed candidates will be invited for an initial interview via Zoom, even before the closing date.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure the best consideration of their application.

The expected start date is February 2023 (depending on availability).

The position includes a full-time contract with social security coverage.

Applications are processed upon reception. The position might be closed once ten working days have passed since publication, so we encourage early application.

The working language of the Institute is English. Full command of the English language is required in all positions.
