IMDEA Materials Institute is a public research organization founded in 2007 by Madrid’s regional government to carry out research of excellence in Material Science and Engineering by attracting talent from all over the world to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment. IMDEA Materials has grown rapidly since its foundation and currently includes more than 120 researchers from 22 nationalities and has become one of the leading research centers in materials in Europe which has received the María de Maeztu seal of excellence from the Spanish government. The research activities have been focused on the areas of materials for transport, energy, and health care and the Institute has state-of-the-art facilities for processing, characterization and simulation of advanced materials.

Description

Research support to Principal Investigators (PIs) and other researchers in Post-Award activities (project management and financial reporting) and to some extent in Pre-Award (proposal development), related to grants and contracts. Contributes to optimising internal processes and to the management of the Institute.

Main responsibilities:

- Internal promotion of calls, detection and analysis of funding opportunities, technology surveillance, and development of project ideas and consortia.

- Administrative support to grant proposals. Actively contributes to writing the technical proposal and consortiums building

- Cost monitoring, financial reporting of the allocated projects (grants, contracts, fellowships, etc.) and other day-to-day operations. Can act as the internal expert on specific funding programmes' financial and administrative regulations.

- Can lead the implementation of internal process optimisation and / or be responsible for new needs in this respect. Creates associated instructions / procedures / policies.

- Can supervise Junior Project Managers.


Requirements

- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within research organisations, universities or R&D departments.

- Experience providing management and administrative support to grant reporting at National and international levels (in particular EU framework programmes).

- Experience monitoring costs and preparing cost claims to funding agencies and managing audits requirements.

- Degree in science and engineering related to materials engineering.

- Training in agile project management, preparation of proposals for EU framework programmes, etc.

- Medium level of spoken and written English (B2 or higher). High level of Spanish.

- Experience working with ERP IDINET will be highly valued.
