IMDEA Materials Institute launches its ninth Research Initiation Fellowship call to recruit final-year and Master's students who wish to carry out a three-month research internship during 2023 in an international and multidisciplinary environment under the supervision of a senior scientist. Deadline for applications: 20/04/2025
OTHER DETAILS
IMDEA Materials Institute is a public research organization founded in 2007 by Madrid’s regional government to carry out research of excellence in Material Science and Engineering by attracting talent from all over the world to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment. IMDEA Materials has grown rapidly since its foundation and currently includes more than 120 researchers from 22 nationalities and has become one of the leading research centers in materials in Europe which has received the María de Maeztu seal of excellence from the Spanish government. The research activities have been focused on the areas of materials for transport, energy, and health care and the Institute has state-of-the-art facilities for processing, characterization and simulation of advanced materials.
More information can be found at our webpage.
An experimental project to study the synthesis of inorganic nanowires with controlled crystal structure and their assembly as electrodes for electrochemical energy storage. The student will carry out in the generation of new metal catalysts and their use to control nanowire polytypes and size distribution. With support from the group, the student will produce electrodes consisting of aggregated nanowire networks and study their electrochemical properties as battery electrodes. Suitable for someone with a background in material science, applied physics or inorganic chemistry. Possibility to carry out a follow-up PhD on the topic.
Skills the student will acquire:
Hands-on experience with chemical vapour deposition for nanowire synthesis and characterization of materials through electron microscopy, aerosol measurements and X-ray diffraction.
To be an undergraduate university student in their last year or MSc student in any scientific discipline (physics, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, etc.) or engineering.
To hold a valid Spanish residence permit.
Deadline for submissions:20/04/2025
First Stage. The applicants will submit their registration with their CV, academic records and Spanish Id (either DNI or NIE) and will receive an automatic reception confirmation.
